We’ve heard from actress, funnylady, and all-round spectacular person Emma Stone about her skincare and makeup secrets—but what about her style inspiration? Lucky for us, she just dished about fashion choices, her best pieces of advice, and more to Vogue UK!
Emma apparently counts among her most important pieces of style advice this little gem from her mom. “When I was a teenager and all the cool girls were wearing pajama pants at school, my mother forbid me to do that—or to let me bra straps show,” Emma said. Mother really does know best!

The actress also credits her stylist, Petra Flannery, for “being the voice of reason behind anything I’ve worn on the red carpet over the past few years.” Noted Emma in the February issue of Glamour UK, “She knows that I won’t dress like a fairy princess, wear a lot of glitter or anything that makes me look like a Victorian doll. If I could wear those things and not look like Dakota Fanning when she was eight, maybe, but I just don’t look good in them.” A woman after our own hearts.
Her favorite designers? Miu Miu, Dolce & Gabbana, and Lanvin rank pretty highly for Emma, though she’s also recently been introduced to a couple of top British talents. “Sarah Burton is such a nice woman, and I just met Christopher Bailey, who is the loveliest man,” she said.
